Living together: Urban Housing: Coliving

Main problems of modern urban life

Lack of urban housing

Today, the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico covers an area of almost 8,000 square kilometers, 60 municipalities in three different states, with a population of around 21 million inhabitants. Since 1800, the urban sprawl has expanded more than 500 times its size, with the fastest growth between 1970 and 1980. The accelerated growth of urban territories is not exclusive to Mexico City; every large metropolis is subject to receive thousands of people daily who arrive with the hope of a better future. This has also been the case in Jalisco, the State of Mexico, Michoacán and Guanajuato. The urban dream materializes only for a few, while the rest are pushed to the peripheries, forced to live in precarious conditions with high rates of marginalization. It is clear that the management of the administrations has not been the most adequate, as it has not been able to provide a solution to a problem that has been going on for a long time.
