Puerto Angel Villas

Puerto Angel is a set of luxury suites located in the Bay of Puerto Angel in Oaxaca. This development is integrated into a property characterized by its slope of approximately 50° in an environment composed of cliffs. The challenge: How to generate a real estate development project that respects the context, the terrain and proposes a healthy dialogue around vertical architecture? How do you make a building without making a building?

Recognizing the complexity of the terrain is key to diagnose the spatial organization that best resolves a project, in this case, the staggering of the properties allows capitalizing on the altimetric resources of the context and respecting the diagonality of the property. Puerto Angel materializes the transition space between the limestone of the mountain, the vegetal composition and the horizon of the Pacific coast, generating a hybrid context where the user can focus his attention on the richness of the immediate surroundings from inside the project.

In order to make functional modules adaptable to the topography, a construction system of columns with reticular slabs was used. The apparent waffle slab, in addition to being part of the interior design, allows the roof of one user to become the terrace of the other, optimizing the space for the outdoors. With a materiality focused on wood, glass and concrete elements, the facades are opened to the natural environment, generating 270° views of the open sea. When it is required to close the windows, the wooden Louvers will isolate the interior, while on the exterior the wood of this enclosure will be mimicking the colorimetry of the landscape.
